This is one of my favorite drinks at Starbucks. Unfortunately, it is ridiculously expensive there. I was determined to enjoy this heavenly drink without the price.
Makes: 1 cup
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
1½ tsp. green tea (matcha) powder
1 Tbsp. hot water (not boiling water)
1 cup milk (cows, almond, soy, etc)
1 tsp. sugar (optional)
How to froth:
- Ikea frother only $2.50
- place milk in a mason jar and shake it
Directions:
- Warm the milk on medium heat until you see little bubbles. Don't boil. Add in your desired sugar. (I added two tsp. because I like it sweet)
- While the milk is warming up, mix the matcha powder and the hot water in your drinking cup. I used the Ikea frother to mix but you can just mix/dissolved the powder however you want. With a chopstick, spoon, etc.
- Froth the milk.
- Pour the milk into your cup. Use the frother so that you reach the bottom of the cup to mix the green tea with the milk.
- For aesthetics, you can sprinkle some matcha powder on top of the froth.
